Below are screen shots of the proper settings for Nero Burning Rom v5.5.x & v6.3.x.

It is strongly recommended that delete your Temp files:

Windows 2000:  delete all files in C:\WINNT\TEMP and all files in

C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local Settings\Temp

Windows XP: delete all files in C:/WINDOWS/TEMP and all files in

C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local Settings\Temp

Windows 9.x: delete all files in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP

Check your drives with Chkdsk or Norton Disk Doctor, then Defragment them after. Then restart your computer before attempting to write a CD.
This is recommended to lessen the chance of corrupting data as it is being written to the CD.

If you experience problems, try closing programs running in the System Tray. such as virus scanners, AIM, ICQ, etc. while you burn CD's.

Screen Savers & Power Management settings should be set to a longer amount of time than the amount of time it takes to burn a CD,

Create an image file first & test all drive speeds

Always use the same drive to read and burn the CD, otherwise your copy will not be a true sector to sector copy

If you read from another CD drive and the CD you are copying is copy protected,

the copy will not install and give you an "Wrong Disk" error and keep prompting you to insert the correct media.

Your Read Options should be set like below for Nero 4.x or 5.x

If you are using Nero 6.x, the screen below applies to you

You should burn at 4X for PC Games and Apps, & 2X or 1X for PSX CD's
